It is with great pleasure that we announce to you our new Community School Resource Coordinator, Sami Clausen-Ruppert. Sami has been working with our Leopold community for the past two years in her role as site coordinator of the AACE program and as our coordinator for Open School House. In her two years with us, Sami has built an innovative program that is interest-based and academically enriching. Also, more importantly, Sami has built strong relationships with our students, families, staff and community partners. Please join us in welcoming Sami into this important, new role!
Originally from Rockford, Illinois, Samantha, otherwise known as Sami, moved to Madison in 2012 after completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work at Aurora University. She was a college intern with Communities in Schools, providing mental health counseling sessions to students K-12. Since moving to Madison, she has worked for MSCR and MMSD in various positions at Chávez Elementary, Lake View Elementary and Lincoln Elementary. She has been the Director of the Afterschool Academic Center of Excellence (AACE) at Leopold Elementary the last two school years. She has also coordinated Open School House events.
Samantha is married to husband Neil, and they have a very cute guinea pig named Steve (and no children of their own). On her time away from work, she is an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and loves to eat, drink, and travel with her husband!
She will start in her new role on May 16, 2016.
